How to use "migration tool" upon a fresh win-install?

$

Hi all,
I have made a fresh installation of Windows and a fresh installation of BW. As I understand the help file, the Migration tool is only available, if BW discover an old version of BW. Perhaps only an earlier version?
My question: Is it still possible to migrate all my settings? I do have a complete backup of the BW-folder. What do I do?
- simply paste the old folder on top?
- paste it into the program folder next to the new installation in order for BW to offer the Migration tool?
Thanks,
Morten

Screen Display fuzzy

I just got a new PC laptop which I link with a large 25" screen. But when I installed and show BW 10 on it, the appearance is not crispy but a bit fuzzy. I am now downloading the 22 meg final BW, maybe that will have an option to adjust my monitor. Every other software is quite sharp and crisp.

Lexicons not all working

Hello,

I paid for the BW 10 upgrade before BW closed in June. When I returned to the US on furlough in the fall, I upgraded my Mac with BW 10. My lexicons show activated but when I click on a Greek word, for instance, all that appears is Friberg. When I look at the analysis window however it shows that all my lexicons are activated including BDAG and HALO but they don't appear when I send my word to lexicon browser. I'm now back in Central America and I'm afraid to download BW 10 again because the internet connection is not great.
What am I doing wrong? Why am I only showing friberg? Thanks for any help you can give.

Hello all,

I tried to open BW today, and the BW small window starts up, say as usual "rebuilding version ..." etc. This continues for about 30-45 sec, and then the BW starting window suddenly disappears again, then nothing happens after that? = BW not working.

See the crash report below.

I have done the repair and reinstall option already a few times, still not working.

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks.

Analysis Window ‘Resources Summary’ Tab Defunct:

To whom it may concern:

I’m running BW 10 on a PC. Several days ago the ‘resources summary’ tab ceased to function properly. I’ve exited the programme and rebooted the computer several times over several days with the same result each time.

When BW10 loads, the Browse Window text from the previous session duly appears. So do the lexical, grammatical and other resources associated with the Analysis Window ‘Resources Summary’ tab. But as my mouse cursor moves across the Browse Window text, the ‘Resources Summary’ tab no longer updates. Advancing the passage with ‘page up/down’ or ‘control + up/down’ does nothing. Entering search perimeters, a new text or passage or into the Search Window produces the expected results in the Search and Browse Windows. However the ‘Resources Summary’ tab in the Analysis Window remains stuck on whatever text was last displayed in the Browse Window when BW10 last closed.

Other Analysis Window tabs – the Analysis tab, CNTTS Apparatus, Content tab, Forms tab, Words tab, etc. – all continue to function properly. But the Analysis window ‘Resources Summary’ refuses to update. I am able to scroll the ‘Resource Summary’ tab up and down. And selecting items will open a window displaying the selected resource. But presently, the only way I can access the Analysis Window Resource Summary for ANOTHER verse is to select the verse in question, close BW10, and then reopen the programme.

My work makes heavy use of this feature, so this creates a substantial handicap. I’ve considered doing a reinstall, but I’m not anxious to risk making matters worse. Any insight you could offer would be most appreciated.

Thank-you.

The elephant in the room

I've gone through most of the forum threads looking for a discussion on what strikes me as an obvious question: Why has BibleWorks been abandoned?

The homepage states, "it became increasingly apparent over the last few years that the need for our services had diminished to the point where we believed the Lord would have us use our gifts in other ways."

Forgive my bluntness, but is this homepage announcement a polite way of saying, "We were unable to generate enough sales of Bibleworks to keep the lights on?"

I am wondering if it would be worthwhile to open a discussion on what went wrong? If lack of sales is the reason for the demise of Bibleworks, is this due to the proliferation of websites that offer free Bible searches and material to the point that people don't see any reason to spend a few hundred dollars on a product like Bibleworks? Could it be that Bibleworks was overpriced? Or too complicated for most people to use? Better software than Bibleworks out their that took business away from Bibleworks? All the above?

Bibleworks now joins the ranks of other abandoned Bible software products: QuickVerse, Theophilus, Glo Bible, Biblesoft PC Study Bible, etc.

Is this worth discussing? Any thoughts?

Bibleworks 7 modules in Bibleworks 10

Hello. I have Bibleworks 7 module unlock codes from awhile back that I am trying to activate within Bibleworks 10, which is saying they are not compatible, and they did not even fit in the space allowed by the Bibleworks 10 installer. Perhaps I missed a step to translate old unlock codes to new ones that should have happened if I had purchased Bibleworks 10 while the company was still going?

I emailed service@bibleworks.com and got an automated response.

Is it too late to get Bibleworks 10 compatible module unlock codes for my previously purchased Bibleworks 7 modules?

Thanks.

Weird Issue/ Editor Window

As the title states I am perplexed by something that I've never had happen to me in BW 10. I recently upgraded to a new PC, moving from Win 7 pro to Win 10 pro. The install went without a hitch.
Everything else seems to be functioning fine but I'm having a problem with the editor window (EW).

When I click on the EW tab and then try to open it via the "save & reopen floating" function, the detached window opens up and then after a few seconds it closes down and then the whole BW program shuts down immediately afterwards. No error message.... nothing. Just shuts down. It's repeatable. Happens every time I try and use the "save & reopen floating" function for the EW.

I like to use to EW window to store & edit my data before moving the info to my word processor. So this weird glitch is a problem for me.

I cannot repeat this on my laptop, which also has Windows 10.

Any suggestion? Thanks so much.

My BW 7.0 will not install. The asv.dbx has a data cyclic error.

How do I get around that? Is there a fix?

BW Ver 10.0.8.667 Reinstalled?

I have BW Ver 10.0.8.667 on my laptop. Got a new desktop. Installed from the mem stick and updated as much as possible. However, that new install only gets me to BW Ver 10.0.5.302. The update button shows no further updates. How can I at least update my desktop copy to the Laptop version: 10.0.8.667? I found a file: bwupdate.exe dated 7/7/2018 on the laptop in the Program Files (x86) /BibleWorks 10, but I'm not sure I should copy it over to the desktop and click it. Any help will be appreciated.

Actually, there are 38 files on the Laptop dated from 09/22/2016 to 10/27/2018 that are not in the same folder of the desktop. FWIW

Copy from Browse Window to Editor in the Analysis Window

Greetings,

Basic question: what is the most efficient way to copy from the browse window to the editor in the analysis window?

In my previous version, I could use one of the icons in the toolbar.

Now, it seems as though I need to highlight the text, right click, and then scroll within the options to copy the text. Yes, not impossible. But also not efficient if you are doing that a lot.

Are there other options?

Thank you!

Printing options re the Editor?

Greetings,

Other than using the print icon in the analysis window, is there another way to print from the editor? The print icon automatically prints with no way to alter the deferred printing option.

Can someone add page numbers? Print on both sides of the page? Etc.

Thank you!

NIV version options?

Greetings,
I am new to BW 10.
I see the 4 options to the NIV, the 2011 US, the Reader's Version and 2 UK versions.
I am correct in thinking that we don't have the option of the 1984 US NIV?
Thank you.

Return to previous Browse Window?

Greetings,

When I use the Browse Window, I will often click on another verse as part of my work/research.
But then I want to go back to the original/main verse, I either have to type it back in or find it on the list.
Is there an easy way to do this, rather than starting over?
Does some type of back arrow/option exist?

Thank you!

Window Scaling

Hi,

I've had a problem with the main window scaling incorrectly to my PC (using Windows 8.1). When BibleWorks is not in full screen there is a nice boarder all around the outside. However, when I make it full size the boarder is lost on the right and left see pictures). This means it looks cramped and my cursor is almost to the very edge of my screen in the search bar. I've installed all the updates, restarted my computer, experimented with the scaling options - nothing works. Has anyone had the same problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Lange's Commentary

I understand that Lange's commentary is supposed to be available to all Bibleworks 10 users. I went to Help/Check Updates but there were no updates available. Is there any other way to get this commentary? I guess I missed it the first time it was made available. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Tab Font Size

How do I change the font size of tabs in the Analysis Window and the fonts of the drop-down menus from the Main Menu? I can find all sorts of information about how to change various other fonts and how to change the scaling. My eyes are now having trouble reading the small font on the tabs and the sub-menu options. Thanks in advance.

Did I buy a hacked version of BibleWorks?

$

I thought I was buying a legit license for BibleWorks, but now I suspect it is a hacked version, but I'm not sure. I'm going to paste in the "install instructions", let me know what you think. The codes are very suspicious to me. Seriously, hacking BibleWorks? The moral and spiritual problems are glaring!!

Download all the files in the dropbox to your computer, most often
your files will be save in your "downloads" folder.

Double click on BibleWorks10rev6.iso to "mount" the file as a virtual DVD

Open the Virtual DVD drive and Double click on "Autorun"

Click on Install/Reconfigure and click "yes" on the security pop-up if
it appears.

On the module activation section, copy and paste module activation codes to
activate modules:

Make sure to active BibleWorks 10 with this code:
BW10-UT9E-XXXX-QQQQ-QQQQ (I put in the XXXX, but not the QQQQ-QQQQ)

BDAG-M8KQ-XXXX-QQQQ-QQQQ (Again, I put in the XXXX, but not the QQQQ-QQQQ)
Greek Lexicon

And several other modules...

Finish the Install, you do not need to restart your computer.

After the Installation, DO NOT open Bibleworks through the shortcut, or through the exe in the Program Files directory.

Copy and Paste bw1000.exe from the Dropbox folder into the BibleWorks 10
directory on your computer to replace it.

The Bibleworks 10 Install folder is here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\BibleWorks 10

After you have replaced the file, double click on bw1000.exe to open Bibleworks 10.

At the activation window, click on "Activate Manually"

On the Manual Activation window, enter this number in the confirmation code section:

CWCG-CWCG-XXXX-CWCG (I put in the XXXX)

Click "Activate"

Click "OK" to confirm all the add-on modules you have installed.

Restart BibleWorks 10.
